Mr. Anthony TAI | Director, Sale and Purchase division | Clarksons Platou
Mr. Tai has been working with Clarksons Platou (largest shipbroking company in the word with the compnay listed in London - https://www.clarksons.com/) for 13 years since graduation from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Mr. Tai was promoted to divisional director in the Year 2016 and received Young Career Award from the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2017. He is currently an executive committee member of the Institute of Seatransport since 2019.
His role is mainly engaging with clients to service their buying, selling, building, and recycling their vessels. The asset can be ranged from a handysize (25,000 Dwt) to up to VLCC (300,000 Dwt).
When it comes to S&P of ships, people usually will think of Yachts. But for commercial vessels, it will be those which carry coal, grain, iron ore (Bulk carriers) or palm oil, crude oil, Jetfuel (Tankers) or TEUS, FEUS (Containers) that we are talking about.
This session will cover the recent development of the three markets (Bulkers, Tankers and Containers) and it will also touch base on the process of buying/selling a vessel. We are talking about vessel's value starting at USD 1 million up to hundreds of millions from personal experience so handing these transactions is not for the faint-hearted. |
