CILTHK 55th Anniversary | Executive Luncheon Series
Session 03: Trade Facilitation Measures to Strengthen Hong Kong’s Status as an International Trade Centre
YAU Ying-wah, Algernon | Secy for Commerce & Econ Dev | HKSAR Government

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK), founded in 1968, is celebrating its 55th Anniversary this year. To commemorate this momentous occasion, we have organised a 55th Anniversary Luncheon Series which serves to provide a platform for nurturing close and long-standing relationships between the government and the transport and logistics industry. It aims to drive the industry to stay competitive in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, and, by extension, in the rest of the world.

This Luncheon Series will consist of 3-4 luncheons to be held from March onwards in 2023. Key government officials will be invited to share with members and guests the latest updates on a diverse range of important policies and developments in the transport and logistics industry and Hong Kong. We believe that it will be an unmatched opportunity to share and exchange ideas between our guest speakers and the local transport and logistics professionals.

The national "14th Five-Year Plan" has supported Hong Kong to continue to strengthen its role as an international trade centre. Over the years, the HKSAR Government has put in place various measures to enhance customs clearance efficiency and expedite cargo flow while maintaining effective controls. To maintain Hong Kong's status as an international trade centre and logistics hub, the trading and logistics sector, being one of the traditional key industries in Hong Kong, will continue to play an important role in fostering exchanges and trade with the Mainland and the international community.

Mr. Algernon Yau, the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, will share the latest updates of various policies to strengthen Hong Kong's status as a prominent international trade centre and logistics hub, for example the development of various trade facilitation measures in Hong Kong, including the Trade Single Window, infrastructure development such as the redevelopment of the Air Mail Centre as well as liberalisation measures under the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement.

Both CILTHK members and friends are welcome to join!
