CILTHK Welcomes Government Measures to Address Rising Fuel Prices

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK) welcomes the Hong Kong SAR Government’s announcement of targeted measures to address rising fuel prices amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

CILTHK supports the proposed time‑limited diesel subsidy and the 50% reduction in government‑operated tunnel tolls for commercial vehicles, noting that these measures will provide timely relief to public transport, logistics and related sectors facing increased operating costs. However, CILTHK noted that franchised bus operators’ fuel price has increased by more than HK$8 per litre and therefore the HK$3 per litre subsidy is barely sufficient to help them maintaining healthy financial viability of franchised bus operations.  As fuel prices remain a key cost element for essential transport services, the Institute considers Government intervention are important in helping to maintain service stability and public affordability.

The Institute also welcomes the establishment of the Working Group on Public Transport Service Special Applications, which will facilitate more responsive handling of operators’ applications while promoting operational efficiency and energy‑saving measures.

CILTHK considers that the measures reflect a balanced approach that supports essential services while safeguarding public finances. CILTHK looks forward to continuing engagement with the Government and industry stakeholders to enhance resilience and sustainability across Hong Kong’s transport and logistics sectors.

香港運輸物流學會歡迎政府採取措施應對燃油價格上漲

香港運輸物流學會歡迎香港特區政府宣布針對中東地緣政治緊張局勢中燃油價格上漲的針對性措施。

香港運輸物流學會支持擬議的有時限柴油補貼及在所有政府收費隧道對商用車輛均獲隧道費減半，並指出這些措施將及時紓解面臨營運成本上升的公共交通、物流及相關行業。然而，香港運輸物流學會指出，專營巴士的燃油價格已上漲超過每公升8港元，因此每公升3港元補貼仍難以維持專營巴士營運的健康財務可持續性。由於燃料價格仍是必要運輸服務的主要成本因素，學會認為這些政府介入措施對於維持服務穩定與公眾負擔能力至關重要。

學會歡迎成立公共交通服務特別申請工作小組，這將促進營運商申請的更迅速處理，同時推動營運效率及節能措施。香港運輸物流學會認為這些措施體現了支持必要服務與保障公共財政的平衡策略。香港運輸物流學會期待與政府及業界持份者持續合作，提升香港運輸及物流行業的韌性與可持續發展。
